Bob Hitz is a marine biologist and author of The Rise and Fall of the Pacific Ocean Perch (2025), a book that explores the ecological and historical significance of this once-abundant species. A graduate in zoology from the University of Washington, Hitz began his fisheries career in 1957 and he is also a guest contributor to Sitka 2 Publishing’s blog series, Fishing for Answers: Maritime and Fishing History. Where he shares insights that blend scientific expertise with rich maritime storytelling.
